Moutain Sanctuary Park

On Wednesday the Gr 5s went to Mountain Sanctuary Park.

When we arrived we had to make our tents after we were finished they told us we can swim, we swim in a river we mostly tried to catch tadpoles Sebas and I caught the most.

When we finished swimming we went to play actives the first active the green team did was to jump over a rope at first it was hard then we thought it throw we could do it.

Later in the day we had dinner it was spaghetti after we went to shower then played night actives we had to run to Otto and get the name of the animal and run to your group draw the animal.

After we were finish the winner was the blue team then to bed. Next morning was cold Luke woke me up later in the day we went on a hike we saw many cool stuff but at the end of the day we were tired.

Gr.5 visit at Mountain Sanctuary Park

On Wednesday, the 21st of September, we left to Mountain Sanctuary Park at 8:00am. The trip took about two hours.

Our facilitators were Stevovo, Jose, Hanno and Otto. Once we got there, we made our own tents. Then we were put into teams. They were pretty small.

Then we had a nice lunch. After that we swam in a really nice lake. After that, we went to the tuck shop. There were many sweets and cool drinks.

Then we played a game called Picture nary. Our aim was to find things that our facilitator told us to find in nature. Then we played a game called “Into the birds nest”. The aim was for you to get an egg out of a tree without you touching the tree.

After dinner we played another game. After the game we had to go have a quick shower. Then we slept.

The next day, we woke up and had breakfast. Then we went and played two more games with the facilitators. Then we went on a 4km hike. After that we went to swim. Then we had tuck shop. Then we had another opportunity to swim. Then we played a few more games. Then we had supper and played another game. Then we had a quick shower and went to bed.

The next day was our last day. We had a really nice breakfast including bacon and eggs. Then we pack our belongings and our tent. Then we played one final game. Then it was time to leave. Then we said good bye and thank you. Then we got on to the bus. It was a great camp.

The Grade 5 camp

On Wednesday we left school on a bus we travelled very far.

We were told that we were going to Mountain Sanctuary Park when we got there it was worth it but then they showed us how to make a tent when they were finished it was pretty small.

Then we ate lunch it was nice then we went to the pools it was not a pool it was a river the water was fresh I caught some tad poles then we ate supper it was delicious.

After that we played a game I asked them their names were Otto ,Stevovo ,Hanno and Jose we played a game called picture nary it was fun we went to sleep I slept in the middle.

The next morning I had breakfast then played our last game ninja it was fun then we had a braai after that we said good bye the end.

Gr.5 Camp at WHPS

The 21st of September 2011 was the date of the Grade 5 camp at WHPS.

8:30 am was the time that the bus had left for Mountain Sanctuary Park. The drive was extraordinary long but it was definitely worth it.

We arrived at about 10:15 am and met our camp leaders which went by the names of Otto, Hanno, Stevovo and Jos’e.

They showed us how to pitch our tents and we got into groups of three. I was with my two friends David Hurly and Ramorio de Sousa. After pitching our tents we were put into groups of four different colours. Red, yellow, blue and green.

After this we got our eating equipment and headed for the eating hut. After a scrumptious lunch of spaghetti, we were ready for our first activity of the day, egg hunting, we called it.

We followed Stevovo to this exciting activity but we were flooded in disappointment after we saw what this game was actually about. We were all expecting hunting for eggs, obviously, but it was actually using the resources we were given to knock an egg out of a tree without touching the tree!

As we thought about it, we realised that this was quite a challenging and enjoying activity so we thought of ideas which built up to one brilliant idea. Knocking it out of the tree and catching it. We tried it and we succeeded.

We moved onto the next activity which was just as awesome, building our own bridge. The yellow team were confident after our last game. Jos’e told us to find rope and wood. We found it and built our bridge like engineers working on an easy objective.

We went to supper and fell asleep in minutes. The following day we went on an excruciating long and hot hike but it was amazing. We went to an amazing river with water as clear as glass! After our hike we just did a few activities and went to supper.

We played an awesome game that night. We had to jump over the rope. When Otto was on the one side, we had to be on the opposite side of the rope. It was so much fun. That night I had a hard time sleeping after one of my friends kept me up all night!

We woke up, packed our bags and headed to the bus. We sadly said our goodbyes and went home. I was so sad I nearly cried the one night but I had photos of the camp so I will never forget that amazing, jam packed camp!

Grade 5 camp

On Wed the 12 of September 2011 the Gr 5’s from WHPS went on a camp to Mountain Sanctuary Park in Magaliesberg close to Haardepeestpoort Dam with Mrs Kleefstra and Mrs T.

After a 2 hour drive we finally arrived. When we got there we had to pitch up our tents.

There were 4 Camp Leaders and they were named Jose, Stevovo, Hanno and Otto.

After pitching up our tents we were divided into groups. We got colour Bandanas of yellow, green, red and blue. We had to do everything with our Bandanas even shower with them. If we lost our Bandanas we were Pop Idols where we had to perform something on that day.

We had a lot of activities during the day in our groups and a game in the night. We learnt a lot of games and songs. There was also a freezing cold swimming pool.

We went on a very long hike were we swam in the West Pools and some of us in the Slide Pools again were there were massive Tad-poles.
