Blind Awareness Day Grade0 - Eco EducationFor our topic Blind Awareness Day the Grade 0 boys had a visitor, Andre Manders, from the Blind Association.
The boys were amazed to see all the different aids Andre uses to help him see. Not only did he bring Braille books, but also a talking watch, an electronic device to measure the amount of liquid poured into a glass and many other interesting devices. To help the boys experience the feeling of being blind we played a game whereby each child was blindfolded. They then had to feel, smell, taste or listen to different objects and guess what they were. Through this game and Andre's talk which is an important part of their early childhood education,
the boys were given a new awareness, acceptance and understanding for the blind.
