GR. 7 FILM and TV WORKSHOP

The Drama Department added a new module to the senior syllabus and drama activities - an exciting Film and TV workshop.

Trained facilitators (from Actors Inc) who have experience locally and internationally provide aspiring actors with much needed experience. They inspire the boys to discover their own uniqueness and how to use it to make it work for them.

The workshops will benefit everybody even if they do not want to become actors one day, because it is a valuable exercise to discover what you are perceived as by an objective third party, in this case, the camera.

The Grade 7 boys learned the difference between stage and film acting and between multi- and single-cam productions. They’ve acted in scenes from TV shows that have been adapted to suit their age and they had to choreograph and act their own fight scenes a la James Bond.

MAD HATTERS

It's big; it's back, its MAD HATTERS! Every year the Drama Department holds its annual Mad Hatters Week, where all the boys have to bring or make a crazy, wacky hat.

By working with the hats we develop characterization through how the character will walk and talk, basically becoming the hat character. What crazy fun it is to see how creative the boys can be and how much fun we have.

PUPPETRY and STORYTELLING

In Term 3 the Grade 2 and 3 boys focused on Puppetry and Storytelling to develop performance confidence, imagination and characterization.

We learn how to manipulate different puppets, from finger puppets and hand puppets to string puppets and how to make our own. This term we learned how to make puppets out of toilet rolls and brown paper bags.

At the end of the term we put on a puppet show for the moms and the dads to show them what we’ve learned and how much fun we had in our drama activities.
