Kids' Lit Quiz

The Kids' Lit Quiz is a major international literature competition for children.

Teams of four children work together, to answer a wide range of literary questions. It puts readers onto the stage and lets them compete for fantastic prizes.

The quiz has heats in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Africa and China. Winning teams qualify for national and world finals.

On Monday 14 February 2011, two WHPS teams participated in the Pretoria round of the quiz, held at Springvale Primary School.

Wayne Mills, a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland, was the quiz master. Thirteen teams participated and the children's knowledge was tested as they faced ten categories of questions based on a variety of books. The WHPS boys did very well, with one team coming third.

The results were as follows:
1st place Christ Church Prep 76.5
2nd place Springvale 72.5
3rd place WHPS1 70

The 2011 National Finals are held in Cape Town and the World Finals in New Zealand.
