Lego Robotics and Lego Mindstorms

The Grade Six and Seven boys have the privilege of doing Lego robotics at WHPS using the 'Mindstorms' System.

The boys have been working with the Lego 'Mindstorms' for the past five years. We have upgraded to the current NXT Robotics System for our boys' robotics education, using the latest educational software designed for schools as opposed to the commercially available version.

The new sets have great additions like ultrasonic sensors, as well as blue tooth technology and can link to a cell phone. These sets are used by the Senior Boys during Project Term.

The older sets which some First Lego League Contestants still prefer, are now used for Robotics club in the afternoons when the boys have a break from sport.

At a time when green awareness is becoming a global concern, we have added a set of renewable energy sets which include solar, water and wind energy which are used by grade Sixes and is integrated with the Science Curriculum for their science projects.
