WHPS Entrepreneurs:
Economic and Management Sciences – Grade 5-7
In the EMS subject our WHPS entrepreneurs deal with the efficient and effective use of different types of private, public or collective resources in
satisfying people’s needs and wants, while reflecting critically on the impact of resource exploitation on the environment and on the people.
In particular, EMS deals with:
- The nature, processes and production of goods and services
- The South African economy and socio-economic systems in different countries
- The financial management and planning skills for private, public or collective ownership
- Entrepreneurial skills and knowledge
As part of our Entrepreneurial theme the boys held a mini- market day where they sold their goods or services at School.
As a cross curriculum project with Design and Technology, the boys designed and made Vendor Trays which were used on the
Market day to display and sell their products.
The Grade 6 boys have designed and made their own dream catchers as an exercise to determine both the market viability and
financial viability of this as a possible entrepreneurs venture.
They have recorded the costs of the materials as well as the hours of labour to determine a selling price.
