WHPS Entrepreneurs:
Economic and Management Sciences – Grade 5-7

In the EMS subject our WHPS entrepreneurs deal with the efficient and effective use of different types of private, public or collective resources in satisfying people’s needs and wants, while reflecting critically on the impact of resource exploitation on the environment and on the people.

In particular, EMS deals with:

• The nature, processes and production of goods and services
• The South African economy and socio-economic systems in different countries
• The financial management and planning skills for private, public or collective ownership
• Entrepreneurial skills and knowledge

Grade 6 Production Days

The Grade 6 boys were involved in an entrepreneurial project this term, which culminated in a Market/Production Day on Friday, 24 June.

This main entrepreneurial event co- incised with the Go Kart Racing, in which all boys from Grade 0 to Grade 7 participated and enjoyed.

WHPS learners fully supported the Grade 6's by buying food and goodies and playing games, including an endurance activity keeping their hands in icy water.

Some Grade 6 boys were away on the rugby tour and they took part in their Market Day on Tuesday before they left.

This year the older boys had to deal more with production of goods rather than just selling of products and they found it to be more challenging. Another change this year was that a lesser proportion of the profit was handed over, with the bulk of it going to the enterprising entrepreneurs for their greater personal effort and participation. Nevertheless a total of over R4100.00 was collected, which will be donated to Save the Rhino Fund.

The grade 6 boys would like to thank all the WHPS boys and teachers as well as their families for their support and encouragement.
